Regular servicing – at least once a year before the onset of winter – can prevent those disastrous boiler breakdowns which seem to strike at the most inconvenient times, leaving you out in the cold. It also ensures your boiler works as fuel-efficiently as possible, cutting down on heating bills.
When we service a boiler, we can identify any potential faults and pre-empt them, avoiding costly repairs in the future and pro-longing the life of your boiler. If a fault does occur, we can diagnose and repair it before it gets worse and/or becomes a safety hazard.
We work with householders, landlords and businesses to keep gas and oil boilers of all makes and models well maintained and serviced. A gas boiler service involves a visual inspection, during which we can spot any corrosion or leaks, and then the removal of the boiler casing so we can check the components. We clean the inside of the boiler, including the heat exchanger, burner, main injector and spark probe. The gas pressure is checked, and we inspect the flue to make sure there are no obstructions. Finally, we fire up the boiler to check it is working properly.
A boiler service takes around half an hour, depending on the make and model of your boiler. We can then issue a service report and advise and inform you about any problems and how to rectify them.
Boilers are hard-working appliances, and won’t last forever without developing a fault or having a part wear out. If you notice that your boiler starts to misbehave don’t wait until it stops working – call in our expert boiler engineers to find and fix the fault straight away.
One of the most obvious signs that your boiler has a problem is when it starts to make unusual noises like banging, gurgling or whistling. Leaks are also clear signs of something wrong, as well as the pressure registering too high or too low. If at any point you notice a gas smell emanating from the boiler open the doors and windows and turn off the gas main, then call us immediately.
Very often boiler faults are easy to repair. Perhaps air has entered the heating system, or debris has built up causing water to overheat. If parts need replacing it is usually a pump or thermostat that is required.
